Partnership with the EcoEnterprises II Fund (EcoE II)
The CFC joined the EcoE II Fund to invest in small companies with proven business models at the expansion stage that are active in the sustainable agriculture and forestry sectors in Latin America. The targeted investee companies supply a growing market for organic food products and certified wood, predominantly in the United States.
Since its first close in 2011, the Fund has disbursed debt and equity investments across different portfolio companies engaged in eco/organic niche products such as tea, juices, baby food, and dried fruit.
Overall, the Fund has supported local employment and strengthened linkages with smallholder suppliers of raw materials. In addition, EcoE II’s portfolio companies manage land either sustainably or under conservation practices. As of 2024, EcoE II has supported 8,228 smallholder farmers, sustained approximately 4,400 jobs, benefited approximately 63,000 people, and protected or sustainably managed 5 million acres of land. Additionally, USD 31 million in increased access to capital has been generated since the EcoE Fund’s investment.
