Outcome of the 51st Meeting of the Consultative Committee of the CFC

Amsterdam - The 51st meeting of the Consultative Committee of the CFC was held in Amsterdam from 21 to 25 January 2013. This was the first meeting of the Committee in its new composition appointed for the period 2013-2014 and in the context of the new operational plan 2013-2017. The Committee is currently composed of seven members, representing Africa, Asia, Latin America, OECD and the Russian Federation.

The new vision of the CFC emphasizes sustainable development as well as social and economic growth, access to food and international and regional markets for Developing Countries driven by transparent and sustainable value addition to commodities and development of related value chains.

To implement this vision effectively, the CFC issued an open call for proposals in the end of 2012. The call was met with overwhelming response, with nearly 350 proposals submitted for consideration. Based on the key screening criteria indicated in the call for proposals, the Committee focused its consideration on 12 proposals. Out of these, the Committee recommended three projects for grant financing, and seven - for other forms of financing including loans, returnable grants and equity. The recommendation of the Committee will be considered by the Executive Board in April 2013.

The next meeting of the Consultative Committee will be held in July 2013 wherein it will consider fresh proposals received under new call for proposals to be issued shortly.
