Delegation from Guatemala visits CFC

Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal is seen with Ambassador Eduardo Sperisen Yurt of the Permanent Mission of Guatemala in Geneva discussing their partnership with the CFC virtually on 14 September. Ambassador Sperisen Yurt joined from his office in Geneva while Ambassador Belal did the same from his office in Amsterdam.

During the discussion, Ambassador Belal briefed Ambasador Sperisen Yurt on the current as well as probable future initiatives of the CFC. Further, the conversation touched upon the intention to strengthen the region by commodity focused projects. With regard to the ongoing call for proposals by CFC, Ambassador Belal urged for support of the government of Guatemala to disseminate the information so that qualified SMEs/enterprises could submit quality projects from the Republic of Guatemala for consideration by the Executive Board of CFC. Ambassador Belal expressed his desire to see further expansion of CFC funding projects in Latin American region so that poverty alleviation sustains despite setbacks after the pandemic of COVID-19.

Earlier in the day, CFC welcomed a two member senior delegation from Embassy of Guatemala in The Hague. Mr. Lesther Antonio Ortega Lemus, Minister Counsellor, Embassy of Guatemala in The Hague is seen with Managing Director Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal at the Secretariat of the CFC. Messrs. Ortega and Bran came on 14 September to visit CFC, for the first time, to know more about the activities of the CFC and its impact on the ground.

Mr. Ortega was accompanied on the visit by Mr. Carlos Eduardo Bran Gomez, Minister Counsellor. Ambassador Belal was accompanied by Mr. Andrey Kuleshov, Strategy and Development Advisor (virtually) and Ms. Sonja Timmer, Project Manager.
