CFC Webinar for the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, 29 October 2024

The theme for the 2024 International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, designated by the United Nations to raise awareness about the global urgency of eliminating poverty, is “Ending Social and Institutional Maltreatment Acting together for just, peaceful and inclusive societies”.

The CFC Secretariat will commemorate the day on Tuesday, 29 October 2024, by hosting a webinar focused on empowering individuals living in poverty to make informed choices and participate in decision-making processes that impact their lives, restoring their dignity. Professor Dr. Howard Nicholas, an internationally renowned academic in sustainable development and poverty alleviation, will deliver the keynote address.

Tackling poverty, particularly in commodity-dependent regions, is a complex challenge. By managing commodity dependence and supporting smallholders, we can promote economic stability, diversification, and sustainable development. Collaboration between governments, organizations, and the private sector is essential to create lasting solutions.
