Ambassador of Pakistan visits CFC
H.E. Mr. Suljuk Mustansaar Tarar, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Netherlands, is seen with Managing Director Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal at the Secretariat of the CFC. H.E. Mr. Suljuk Mustansaar Tarar came to visit the CFC, for the first time, to know more about the activities of the CFC and its impact on the ground.
His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Rao Rizwa-ul-Haq, Trade & Investment Counselor at the Embassy. Ambassador Belal was accompanied by Mr. Ernesto Daza Lacouture, Junior Project Manager.
As a commodity-dependent country, Pakistan, as stated by Ambassador Tarar, takes the CFC with utmost importance. Pakistan expressed its readiness to do more for its people as well as for all poor people in the region.
Ambassador Belal, taking a cue from COVID-19 lessons, highlighted the importance of capacity-building initiatives beyond the business case of the CFC’s usual projects.
During the discussion, Ambassador Tarar assured that he will do his best to bring good project ideas from his country and the region, as well as to promote the idea of impact investment as best as he could. Ambassador Belal urged Ambassador Tarar to disseminate the information with business chambers, Ministries, and enterprises so that qualified SMEs/enterprises could submit quality projects from Pakistan for consideration by the Executive Board of the CFC. Bringing mainstream financing of SMEs into the national system of Pakistan would be a desirable outcome of the CFC’s Call for Proposals.
Appreciating Pakistan’s good standing in the region, enhancement of regional projects in the agri-commodity sector might be a possibility in the future to consider.
Ambassador Belal assured to pursue more innovative outreaches in the days to come to make the services of the CFC available to as many people as possible in the commodity dependent developing world, with a heightened sense of innovations and creativity.
