Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria visits CFC virtually
The CFC received H.E. Dr. Eniola Olaitan Ajayi, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and two dignitaries from the Embassy, Ambassador Oluremi Oliyide (Deputy/Minister Plenipotentiary) and Mr. Olufemi Olonijolu (Head of Chancery), on 17 January 2022 virtually.
H.E. Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal, Managing Director of the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC), accompanied by Mr. Hector Besong, Portfolio and Risk Manager, received the delegation.
After exchange of usual greetings and pleasantries, Amb. Belal inaugurated the meeting and handed over to H.E. Dr. Eniola Olaitan Ajayi for an introduction of her staff and the issues at hand. During the meeting, Amb. Ajayi explained that the Federal Republic of Nigeria wishes to have a better understanding of the partnership the CFC can provide in the commodity value chain. Her Excellency pointed out that her country is interested in, e.g., furthering the dairy sector. The parties continued to discuss the kind of project activities supported by the CFC and financing options available through the CFC through the Call for Proposals.
The meeting further touched upon the creation of the CIIF (Commodities Impact Investment Facility) which has been approved by the CFC Governing Council in December 2021. The CFC would welcome recommendations to the relevant impact investors in your Nigeria and beyond, when the CIIF has been established.
The meeting was concluded with the mutual resolve of remaining engaged and doing the necessary follow-up in the days to come.
