Vietnam expresses support for CFC’s Mission, looks forward to strengthening collaboration
The Hague, 23 January 2025 – Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal, Managing Director of the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC), met with H.E. Mr. Huong Nam Ngo, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, at the Embassy of Vietnam in The Hague. The discussions centered on the CFC’s initiatives and the potential for enhanced collaboration between Vietnam and the organization.
During the meeting, Ambassador Belal provided an overview of the CFC’s ongoing and future initiatives, emphasizing its critical role in addressing global challenges such as poverty, inequality, and sustainable development. He highlighted the CFC’s unique position as a bridge between the Global South and North, fostering partnerships that drive inclusive growth and empower vulnerable communities.
Ambassador Huong Nam Ngo expressed his appreciation for the CFC’s impactful work and its contributions to the developing world. While noting that Vietnam is awaiting further guidance from its capital, which is currently occupied with other pressing priorities, he reaffirmed Vietnam’s belief in the CFC’s mission and encouraged the organization to continue its efforts to support sustainable development globally.
Ambassador Belal expressed the CFC’s eagerness to deepen its collaboration with Vietnam, noting that the organization is ready to support the country in achieving its development goals. He also encouraged Vietnam to consider the urgency of joining the CFC, given the current global crises that demand swift and collective action.
