PKSF Welcomes CFC CEO Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal and Expresses Strong Support for the Humanizing Value Chains Initiative
Dhaka, Bangladesh, 10 February 2025 – The Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) warmly welcomes Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal, Managing Director of the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC), on his visit to Bangladesh on January 10, 2025. PKSF is honored to host Ambassador Belal and looks forward to strengthening collaboration with the CFC on innovative initiatives that promote sustainable development and equitable growth.
Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) is a leading development organization in Bangladesh dedicated to poverty alleviation and sustainable development. Through its extensive network of partner organizations, PKSF works to empower marginalized communities, promote inclusive growth, and foster innovation in development practices.
PKSF expresses its strong support for the CFC’s groundbreaking initiative, Humanizing Value Chains (HVC), which aims to transform global supply chains by fostering direct connections between producers and consumers. This innovative and humane approach seeks to empower workers, particularly in the garment and textile sectors, by enabling consumers to tip workers digitally for their craftsmanship and efforts.
The HVC initiative is not only a visionary step toward addressing poverty and inequality but also a transformative model that has the potential to reshape the future of global trade. By creating a platform where both producers and consumers actively participate, HVC can bring much-needed respite to workers trapped in cycles of poverty while fostering a sense of global solidarity and shared responsibility.
PKSF believes that this initiative aligns perfectly with its mission to promote inclusive development and improve the livelihoods of marginalized communities. The HVC model has the potential to channel millions of dollars directly to workers, significantly enhancing their quality of life and ensuring a fairer distribution of wealth across value chains.
Ambassador Belal’s visit marks a significant opportunity to explore collaborative efforts between PKSF and CFC in piloting and scaling the HVC initiative in Bangladesh. PKSF is committed to supporting this innovative endeavor and will work closely with the CFC to connect with brands, advocate for ethical practices, and ensure the successful implementation of this transformative model.
PKSF Chairman Mr. Zakir Ahmed Khan stated, ‘The Humanizing Value Chains initiative is a bold and compassionate step toward creating a more equitable world. By empowering workers and fostering direct consumer engagement, we can address systemic inequalities and build a future where no one is left behind. PKSF is proud to support this initiative and looks forward to working with the CFC to make it a reality.’
PKSF urges all stakeholders, including brands, consumers, and development partners, to join hands in supporting the HVC initiative. Together, we can create a world where value chains are not only efficient and profitable but also ethical, sustainable, and humane.
