Mr. Budi Hartantyo passed away
March 2019, Indonesia. Born in 1928, Mr. Hartantyo began his international career in the mid 1950s with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held various positions at Indonesian embassies and missions in Canberra, Brussels, Geneva and Budapest. He was appointed for two consecutive terms as Managing Director of CFC from 1989 to 1996.
Mr. Hartantyo’s interest lay in trade and international commerce. He played a significant role in CFC’s formative years, helping to mould it into the organisation we know today.
He was honoured with the Indonesian order of ‘Satyalancana Karya Satya Second Class’ and he was made a ‘Commandeur de l’Ordre de Leopold II, Kingdom of Belgium’.
Mr. Hartantyo has authored several books including ‘International Commodity Development Strategies: Proceedings of the Common Fund for Commodities Seminar on Commodity Development Measures in the Context of International Commodity Strategies’ which was published by the VU University press in 1994.
Mr. Budi Hartantyo, the first Managing Director of the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC), died in his native Indonesia in March 2019.
