Egypt Commends CFC's Excellent Work Partnership
20 March 2025, Amsterdam – H.E. Mr. Emad Hanna Kamel, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, visited the CFC Secretariat today, where he was warmly received by Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal, Managing Director of the CFC. Ambassador Hanna Kamel was accompanied by Mrs. Mariham Youssef, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Egypt in The Hague.
The meeting centered on strengthening bilateral ties, exploring new avenues for collaboration, and addressing shared global challenges—particularly in sustainable development and poverty alleviation. Ambassador Belal commended Egypt’s longstanding role as a commodity powerhouse and its proven track record in empowering smallholder farmers, expressing deep gratitude for Egypt’s commitment to sharing its best practices with fellow commodity-dependent developing countries (CDDCs).
Following an exchange of pleasantries, Ambassador Belal provided an overview of CFC’s ongoing and future initiatives. Against the backdrop of global challenges, he emphasized the need for stronger partnerships to amplify impact, particularly in sustainable development and poverty reduction. Highlighting CFC’s tangible contributions, he called for collective action to further develop the “Humanizing the Value Chains” initiative—a critical effort to maximize farmer benefits, reduce poverty, and combat hunger.
Ambassador Belal also invited Ambassador Hanna Kamel to recommend CFC’s newly launched Agricultural Commodity Transformation Fund (ACT Fund) to the Egyptian government and private sector stakeholders. The ACT Fund seeks to mobilize investments for transformative change in commodity sectors, aligning with Egypt’s own successes in agricultural development and value chain optimization.
Ambassador Hanna Kamel lauded CFC’s work, particularly its “excellent contributions” to sustainable development. He underscored Egypt’s vast agricultural potential and opportunities for growth, reaffirming his country’s readiness to collaborate. He praised CFC’s innovative approaches, including the “Humanizing Value Chains” initiative, for fostering inclusive and equitable growth—principles deeply embedded in Egypt’s own development model.
The meeting concluded with mutual commitments to advance cooperation, with both sides pledging to follow up on actionable steps in the coming days.
