CFC Chairpersons for the Governing Council and Executive Board meet for discussion
H.E. Ms. Margaret Shava, Ambassador of Kenya to the Netherlands, and H.E. Mr. J. Eduardo Malaya, Ambassador of the Philippines to the Netherlands, visited the CFC Secretariat upon invitation of Amb. Sheikh Mohammed Belal, Managing Director of the CFC, to be briefed on the fundamentals of CFC as well as to help charting a future to do our human best so that no one is left behind.
In 2023, the CFC member states elected Ambassador Shava and Ambassador Malaya as Chairperson of the CFC’s Governing Council and Chairperson for the Executive Board for 2024, respectively.
During the visit, Ambassador Shava was accompanied by Ms. Josephine Opili, Third Secretary at the Embassy, while Ambassador Malaya was in the company of Ms. Irish Kay Kalaw-Ado, First Secretary and Consul, and Ms. Kieren Batiles, Information Officer at the Embassy. Ambassador Belal was accompanied by Mr. Andrey Kuleshov, Chief, Strategy and Development and Ms. Michèle Schwarz, Head of Accounting and Administration.
Ambassador Belal gave an introduction to the CFC and highlighted the growing demand for CFC investments, which is outpacing the available financing resources. He emphasized the need for greater support infrastructure to meet the expectations of member countries. He further expressed his trust that under the guidance of the new Chairpersons, the CFC will be able to meet any future challenges.
The occasion further provided an opportunity to host a signing ceremony of a contract for Ambassador Belal following his re-election as Managing Director of CFC for a second term in the presence Ambassador Shava, being the Chairperson of the CFC’s Governing Council, while Ambassador Malaya and other CFC staff witnessed the signing ceremony.
Ambassador Belal registered the CFC’s appreciation for the knowledge and leadership of their Excellencies and is looking forward to working with them during 2024, as they resolve to work together for future cooperation and creative solutions.
