Cameroon for the CFC
22 January 2025, The Hague.
Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal, Managing Director of the Common Fund for Commodities, paid a visit to H.E. Ms. Madeleine Liguemoh Ondoua, Alternate Governor of CFC for Cameroon and Ambassador of Cameroon to the Netherlands to discuss the issues of mutual interests.
After an exchange of pleasantries, Ambassador Belal provided an update to Ambassador Ondoua on the activities and challenges facing by the CFC to meet the overwhelming demand for its services. While mentioning CFC’s tangible impact on the ground, and the potential avenues for future collaboration during this challenging era of global crises, Ambassador Belal underscored the urgency of working together to alleviate poverty and foster sustainable development.
Ambassador Belal thanked the leadership of Cameroon for their support and assistance to the cocoa farmers in the country. He emphasized on further development of the value chain so that concerned farmers and the country can gain benefits and fight against the poverty and hunger.
Ambassador Belal also requested the attention of the Cameroon’s leadership on how to improve the coffee processing industries in the country to gain more profits for their farmers.
Ambassador Belal also requested voluntary contribution from Cameroon to meet the gap between demand and supply.
Ambassador Ondoua thanked as well as expressed her gratitude to Ambassador Belal for taking the trouble of visiting their Embassy. She further mentioned that Cameroon will continue to be supportive for the CFC. Ambassador Ondous also register her appreciation to Ambassador Belal for his visionary programme known as “Humanizing Value Chain” as well as for the outstanding performances of the CFC.
