Common Fund for Commodities partners with the Africa Agriculture and Trade Investment Fund as TA Facility Manager
The Africa Agriculture and Trade Investment Fund (AATIF) and the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) announce the signing of the Agreement committing the CFC to act as the manager of TA Facility of the AATIF.
The TA Facility aims to support the investment goals of AATIF and (i) provide investment specific support to partner institutions and final beneficiaries, (ii) promote compliance with the Fund's social and environmental safeguard guidelines and the development policy guideline and (iii) assemble and periodically disseminate knowledge and lessons learnt among the various persons involved in investments supported by the Fund.
As the manager of TA Facility the CFC will formulate, arrange the delivery, monitor and supervise TA activities of the AATIF. The CFC will manage the TA facility in close cooperation with the Deutsche Bank, who, as investment manager, will identify the opportunities to the TA activities in support of the investment goals of the AATIF.
This partnership will benefit the AATIF from the knowledge and international expert network of the CFC in the field of agricultural commodities and value chains. It would enable the CFC to leverage its own operations and strengthen its involvement in financing private sector driven innovation in commodities by participating more closely in selected activities of AATIF.
The Africa Agriculture and Trade Investment Fund (“AATIF”) was launched in 2011 with the mission to realize the potential of Africa’s agricultural production, manufacturing, service provision and trade for the benefit of the poor. The Fund aims to provide additional employment and income to farmers, entrepreneurs and labourers alike. Increasing productivity, production, and local value addition by investing in efficient value chains and providing knowledge transfer are paramount. The Fund is managed by Deutsche Bank as Investment Manager, and is financed by a coalition of investors.
