Jute Physico Chemical (IJSG/01)

Project completed in 1996.

The project sought to achieve a sufficient improvement in physico-chemical properties of processed jute fibre to allow it to compete successfully with synthetic fibres. The project developed cost efficiency processing techniques for jute which saved about 60% when compared to other products. The final product is soft, accessible to dyes and comfortable. These improvements make it possible to develop the market potential of jute products as a competitive and ecologically friendly natural material.
