Enhanced Village-Scale Remote Area Power Supplies (LZSG/06)

The Project seeks to expand the market for lead through its use in lead acid batteries as a source of energy storage for electricity generation in remote areas. This pilot project, which is based in Peru (a) Assesses the engineering feasibility and potential socio-economic impact of enhanced village-scale, remote area power supplies (RAPS) in the Amazon region of Peru; (b) Tests the replicability and sustainability of RAPS systems at the village level; (c) Strengthens knowledge about RAPS systems and energy efficiency through a participatory approach among stakeholders; and (d) Contributes to a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions generated by fossil fuels.
